Was a four-year letterwinner at Mesquite Poteet High School...named to the Class 4A Texas High School Baseball Association All-State team after posting an 11-1 record with a 1.25 earned run average. recorded 78 innings pitched with 123 strikeouts and 12 walks... faced 298 batters and allowed just 54 hits and 14 earned runs.
